in abnormal circumstances. there is aleppo the city and also the periphery. they make up the province. all of the periphery has been liberated. when i was in aleppo i missed the hustle and bustle of the city. the first thing i did their was i was hosted by the revolutionary transition. they come together into what they can to fill this void. we took a tour of the city. most of the shops where closed down. some were not. i wanted to find out that was trying to function as a transitional government structure. to be honest with you, i am using a lot though as a case in point. to be honest, i thought i was going to meet with simple people. the conflict has not yet come to an end. we were pleasantly surprised. the operation we encountered was a lot more specific than we thought. they held elections. the chairman was a highly educated person with a ph.d. in engineering from france. dick also started to all different committees. -- they also started 12 different committees. judiciary, committee on finance, and they were working on a number of products. i love today to talk about those projects th

town, has been killed by indiscriminate shelling in the city. dareaa is 7 kilometers south of damascus. and it has been days of fighting with the security forces. this is why the security forces target the city. it is very close to the damascus capital. they use the fighter jets and the shelling. the story of mohammad is very important. he is a peaceful activist. he graduated from damascus university. since 2003, he was very active on social networks, working with other activists in the city to organize peaceful demonstrations against the war in iraq. this is where the security forces detained him. they released him in 2005. since then, he was very active in humanitarian assistance, along with his friends, including one who was killed in the beginning of the revolution. mohammad established what is called -- a well-known magazine in syria. it is called "national gripe." : the rebels have taken the fight to syria's biggest cities, battling assad's strong holds, his palace in damascus, while fighters have overrun one of the largest military bases outside the city of aleppo. american officials fear the likelihood of assad using chemical weapons is rising. they say they have proof they've been prepared. we went to meet a man who shares those fears. driving along a dark back country road near turkey's border with syria. he told us that until 2008, he was a chief of staff in the chemical weapons program. he said he worked on the defense side, in charge of preparing troops for dealing with attacks and safety equipment. what specific chemical weapons does the assad regime have? he said they have mustard gas, along with a highly toxic nerve agent, vx, sarin and tabun. the regime has started to fall and deteriorate, he argues. it's highly possible assad will start using chemical weapons to kill his own people. >> i think it's a last-ditch effort and one they don't want to use but are considering it. >> reporter: if the regime crumbles, the u.s. fears the weapon

of snow across parts of the northeast including here in new york city. coastal areas, new york city has been dealing with mostly areas of rainfall across our area and also the strong winds, gusting over, 30, 40 miles an hour at times. they were very strong in the overnight hours. i don't know if many of you really heard it. parts up state new york and maine we still have the heavy snow coming down. by the time the snow gets out of the northeast, we could see totals over two feet in upstate new york that is incredible amounts of from the storm. not too bad as far as travel goes in laguardia. delays averaging 30 minutes in laguardia. 20 minutes in philadelphia international. we could see some of these worsen. the storm is exiting and should be smoother days if you're heading to the malls to do returns or traveling heading back home after the holiday season. storms are coming home. winter storm warnings in effect not just because of how much snow we're looking at. when you factor in the wind you have whiteoutout conditions and dangerous conditions on roadways. some of these are in effect u

. this is "studio b." first from fox at 3:00 in new york city, we know the identity of the navy seal who died in the dangerous hostage rescue in afghanistan. here he is, officials confirmed he was 28-year-old from pennsylvania, a member of the navy seal team six. the same group that killed osama bin laden. the mission this weekend was to rescue a doctor from colorado. he was doing humanitarian work in afghanistan when the taliban kidnapped him last week near the border with pakistan. officials say the seal team moved in when intelligence showed the doctor's life was in immediate danger. now we find out more of the daring raid and the intense firefight that killed one of our most elite fighters. jennifer griffin is live for us this afternoon at pentagon. tell us of the navy seal. >>reporter: he was young, just 28 and he was not on the bin laden raid. that was made up of members who were much older, petty officer first-class nicholas check came from a suburb of pittsburgh, pennsylvania, and died sunday of wounds he received during the rescue. i am told the team took a great dial of fire on the
